VPN FAQ
What is the UP-VPN? The UP-VPN gives users connected though other networks access to the Diliman Network
The UP-VPN is still in its beta stage.
Who can avail of the service? UP-VPN accounts are only given to current UP faculty and staff. Users who would want to avail of the service should passby the UP Computer Center and present their appointment papers and valid UP ID. They will then be given a username and password to connect to the service.
Can I change my password? The password cannot be changed. If you feel that your password has been compromised, please report this to helpdesk@up.edu.ph right away. You will then be given a new password.
How do I connect to the UP-VPN? Connections are available for both Linux and Windows clients. Instructions can be found in the
UPCC website for Windows clients. Linux clients can use this link:
http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto-redhat-90.phtml Why can't I surf the Internet after connecting to the UP-VPN? Once connected, all traffic will be passing through the VPN tunnel. You can change this setting by manually fixing your routing configuration. The client computer will be given a 10.x.x.x address which enables it to reach other computers in the Diliman network.
Can I browse the Windows network? The service does not enable browsing a Windows network through the VPN. You should know before hand the DILNET IP Address of the computer you want to access.
We would appreciate comments and suggestions regarding this service.
